Out With the Old

There once was a little old website called dictatorforlife.com, but now it's gone. It's been replaced with this crazy new website. Well maybe it's not that crazy, but you'll find a lot more to do here than on the old site. The focus of this website is:

Dictator for Life. Resources, tutorials, and community.

Classical Civilizations. Links, blog, community.

Dictator for Life

The card game has just now been released into the hands of Kickstarter supporters, and will be available for sale in June 2025. Dictatorforlife.com strives to have genuinely useful content for players of the game. Tutorials and reference charts to help players perfect their game will be made available. Experimental web apps (a timer and a specialized calculator) are in the works. If you didn't already know, part of playing Dictator for Life is giving a short speech to the other players. We will have an open submission page for players to send us video of their speeches. We hope to have a unique video gallery of these speeches and a simple forum to connect players.

Classical Civilizations

If you're not familiar with that term means, you can think of it as ancient history centered around the Mediterranean Sea. It's what I studied in college. Translating ancient texts, visiting archaeological sites, reading history books - it was a good four years. While I never went on to a career in the field or graduate school, I've kept the classics present in my life, and now hope to spread the good word via Dictator for Life and its associated website. The Classics portion of this website will be a collection of links to easy-reading articles related to Classical Civilizations. It will be browsable/scrollable, and as time goes on I hope to have a solid collection of leisure reading available. There will also be more in-depth reading available in a separate area. I'm hoping my curation skills will prove worthy and people consider my collection a good resource for enjoyable browsing in a classics-only environment.

Self-Contained

I'm not into the modern internet aesthetic, which to me is defined by: clickbait; outrage-bait; disingenuous titles and images; bots and artificial everything; surveillance; scams. I'm not a fan of social media. That's why all things Dictator for Life are right here on this website. The links that take you out of dictatorforlife.com will all be to straightforward, accessible, classics-related content. I promise that the content on this site will be focused on Classics and not on anti-internet tirades, as this section may appear to be. But for the purposes of this introductory post, it's warranted to lay out that part of dictatorforlife.com's modus operandi.
